This Blows... Literally.
Meet Boomerang Fay.
She's that red blob hugging Florida.
Fay's a bitch. She can't make up her mind where she wants to go. Which is precisely why I'm at work today. If I don't get to leave soon, I may not be able to go home at all. They're talking about closing the bridges down. Hoop and I both have to take a bridge to get home. *Sigh* Does anyone have a boat? Or a large raft? My boss has been in meetings all morning with the other managers about who should stay and who should go home. So basically, he's weighing which of us he's willing to lose.
I'm still here. So, I think you all know where I stand on the totem pole.
You probably think I'm the hippo. I'm not.
I'm the ant holding up the hippo.
Well, I should probably post this. Our power keeps flickering in and out. I hope all you fellow Floridians are safe. Living in Florida is crazy, no? Canada is looking better and better. Hey Canucks (which I say with the utmost love and respect), you might have me sold on the idea yet! To everyone else, I'll see you on the flip side.

I thought you were the giraffe... seriously look at his elbows
Be careful, and hope you find some room to blog while you're on the Ark.
good luck.
(I don't think the ark has wifi)
Stay safe!!
What the hell are they going to do? Pull out a cot for you? Walk up to the boss and say that they are closing the bridges so you need to leave immediately. It isn't a classroom. That can't hold you hostage.
LOVE how you worded this:
"You probably think I'm the hippo. I'm not.
I'm the ant holding up the hippo."
It made me giggle.
Stay safe!
Stay safe and dry. Well, at least one kind of dry!
For the record, I thought you were the zebra. Because zebras are cute, and it's holding up the boss (who apparently can't do without you).
Stay safe!
Tell your boss your job ain't worth dying over. LOL
Girl, get your ass up here. Hoop's ass, too. The worst thing about Canada is that it's cold in the winter. Our money is pretty, we have lots of maple syrup, we fully support mullets and our national animal is the beaver. It doesn't get much better than that!
Stay safe!
stay safe and i hope you and Hoop get to go home soon
And i'm totally down with you coming up North. You can walk around with a pocketful of twonies and loonies and order some double double's from Timmy's
You're not in school anymore and need to get a hall pass. Just tell them (not ask) that you're going, state your reasons and GO. They can't fire you for wanting to get home safely.
Man, I hate that crap. When I lived in Houston we played that game all the time. I hope you and Hoop are safe.
Check in when you can -
love and prayers,
fiwa
eeeeekkkk! Take care Tink!
Keep that cute head of your above water for me, got that?!?
I needs me some more Twisted Tink, and if you don't make it... well...
Speaking of... didn't wolfie call the heroine Fae? Hmmmm...
yikes.... be safe...!
we had a hurricane up in these parts a few years ago, and my company paid for my dept to stay at a hotal about 2 blocks away so that we could WALK TO WORK and be on time the next morning. true story.
Stay safe Tink.. and let us know as soon as you can that you are. :)
YIKES! Stay safe Tink, now may be a good time for some of that pixie dust!
Open invitation, Tink. Open invitation.
You take care of yourself and Hoop.
Hey, you protect yourself and make sure you are safe. Damn to managers - your life and sanity are more important.
And let me know when you're moving up.
Hope you iz still well! Yikes...
I've been thinking about you all day. The news made it sound not so good for all of Florida. You did remember to take your little swim fins didn't you?
Hang in there kid. Don't blow away. We still need more Twisted Tink!
No job is worth your life honey! Get your butt home. There are jobs going begging up here, get up here while there is still a boom.
We don't have hurricanes.
We just have lots of snow and really high taxes.
Unless you don't want to work. We pay you for that too. Just make sure you have lots of kids and no one knows who the daddy is.
Thank god we don't have hurricanes here in Vancouver...but what I experienced on Tues night at Radiohead's concert is very hurricane like (less the wind).
OH, you'll be alright now. George Bush called the state of emergency. That's gotta mean something, right?
(At dinner tonight my 6 year old son blurted out, "Is anyone ever just going to kill George Bush? Well, I don't mean kill-dead, I just mean...well...get rid of..." What the fart could be going on with Canadian youth these days? You sure you want to consider moving north?
Thinking very safe thoughts for you, my friend!
xoxo
thinking of you! i would hate to be stuck in my office over the bank holiday weekend ick i would get stuck with the wierd guy who collects things too!
seriously though stay safe tink
Ellie x
Tink...Thanks for the update. You have been in Foo & my thoughts & prayers. Hang on tight! There's an empty room in Texas if you need it.
Hope all is well with you!
C'mon up to Canada - we never get hurricanes in northern Alberta.
Tornadoes are rare, too.
And in the winter, you can make your very own sno-cones.....
Thanks for all well wishes and concern guys! Hoop and I are just fine. They let us both go home late yesterday afternoon, and wouldn't you know it, it wasn't nearly as bad where we live. We didn't even lose power once. Which is good, because I was gearing up to eat all the ice cream in the freezer if we did. There's no work today for me, poor Hoop had to still go in. I'm trying to decide whether I should do something productive (like clean the computer room) or lay around in my underwear all day. Maybe I should hold a vote?
Furiousball: Oh ha-ha. Make fun of the girl with the defective elbows, whydontcha. ;)
Sunshine + Bob: An ark! But, I get seasick.
Mamatulip: Hehe, a beaver.
Geenalyn: I love what you guys call things.
LL + Newt: Aw. You guys always pipe up just when I start thinking it isn't worth finishing. OK, ok. I'll put out a new chapter by next Friday, OK?
Alice: Wow. What in the world did your company DO?
Mike: Here that would be called "Conforming". Lol.
Womaninwindow: Your son is awesome! :D
Everyone else: Thank you!!!
Oh a totem pole! ... I thought you were the hottest one on the stripper pole.
Leave ... find a new job ... these people are nuts and it's going no where.
Knot
eek! pictures of people floating down the street in boats, hope you're alright!
Good luck toots. I was thinking of you guys yesterday. Hang tight and all that.
Hi Tink, hope you made it home and aren't still stranded!
I came with the Mamma Mia tour from Orlando and now in Tampa. Fay was supposed to hit here Tuesday so the show was canceled. We got nothing. Now today (Friday) we are getting battered with rain and wind. It's crazy stuff. I'm just hoping I can get back to Vegas on Sunday.
Hang in there, stay dry.
Be safe, little Tink! Let us know when you get home, 'kay?

After some tornado scares in the area (one took off a roof or two), we seem to be out of the woods. Thanks for all the well wishes, again. I am all too happy to say good-bye to Fay. And yes LL, the irony is not lost on me. ;)
Has Fay decided to stay? If they could salt the clouds for the Olympics, why in hell cant they blast Fay's ass out to sea? Jus' wondering...
Here in Jax it has been crazy! Finally have power after 2 days. Trees down, etc, and the first thing I did when my power came back was check in here and see how you fared! Hope things are well there.
And as you know, the news stations around here have beat this story to death. The award for best internet news story goes to FCN...
"I lost everything. I lost my wallet, I lost everything I had, my keys, my teeth, everything," Zabf told First Coast News.
(God bless him, I DO feel sorry for him, but COME ON, how can you ignore that?!?!)
Not only did I have to deal with Fay when she hit Florida when she came in off the Gulf, I drove back through the outskirts of her yesterday when we went up to Tampa, through Orlando and then to Daytona. It wasnt the heart of her, but it was her rain and storms fer sure!! I could not believe how high that river was on our way to Daytona...what was it called....St. Johns or something like that?? I cant remember. Anyway, I wish she would leave already, ya know???
Brendan keeps saying he is happy he is not in Florida right now (he went to Disney World with his dad this summer).
Smart, kid. He's afraid of the wind. :)
Wow! I totally know that run down! Haven't heard from you here in bloggie world recently so I sure hope all is well!
Hang in there! And, she is a b!tch. Seems all the female hurricains are moody!
Emily: He lost his teeth?! Oh man, I hadn't heard that one. Yeah, Jacksonville news stations love to take a story and beat it to death. It's as if they didn't have anything else interesting going on. Oh wait... ;)
Hoop works up at Jacksonville beach. His office made him work on Friday when it was at its worst. He literally drove through three different tornado warnings. We live in Clay, so the big storms hadn't reached us yet. I was totally oblivious.
I'm glad you're OK!
I hope you are ok and everything has calmed down now. x
Glad to hear you weren't too blasted by the storm.
Well, THAT was fun, wasn't it?
this is why Michigan is so cool! We get the best of all the seasons equally and no crazy weather except an errant tornado that covers about one subdivision block every few years or so. Come on up!
glad you're still alive and kicking!
Did you survive Fay?
Or did you just send her to the Life Improvement Center?
(Don't you think the Life Improvement Center would have its Life Improved by a little bit of paint and better lighting?)
OK, just gotta say, better to be an ant than a hippo. No?
I hope everything is OK there and will pray for you and hubs safe return home.
Hope you made it home safely... and now Gustav is coming by to say hello, although Florida should be spared a direct hit this time.
