Vacation Backlash
I wish everyone would take a vacation at the same time. Maybe then I wouldn't come back to 56 urgent emails and a stack of work the size of my head.
I don't have a small noggin either.
So you can understand the mix of awe and horror I felt after opening my office door. "Awe" at the thought that my desk could accrue that much paperwork in a week's time. "Horror" at the thought of trying to weed through it all.
I'm currently on page six.
It's going to be a long week. So forgive me for not posting my vacation recap today. I'll post it tomorrow, along with the header poll. Until then, enjoy these snapshots. Further explanations to come.

P.S. Pocky, for those who asked in Friday's post, is a Japanese snack. They're biscuit sticks covered in flavored creme, usually chocolate or strawberry. You can find them at Wal-Mart in the international food section.
P.P.S. Thanks to everyone who made sure the blog didn't burn down while I was gone. I found the tower of beer cans especially amusing. Any one care to

Welcome back! Those are amazing photos. The splash is just incredible!
Good luck catching up. Job security is one thing, but sheesh.
Don't oil rigs make EVERYTHING seem more scenic?
And I can't say anything about how the dog got that way, but whatever you do, do NOT look in the toilet tank.
Sorry to hear you're swamped. But look on the bright side, you are the only one bright enough to do your work. No?
You could be chained to the kitchen because five ravenous children are constantly hungry! Feel better now?
;)
Welcome back! I like that "splash" picture too! All the pictures look so relaxing and peaceful.
Those are FANTASTIC! I like the beach house and skinny follow-up and the splash was fabulous! I also like your WWC photos. You should really consider photography for your next career.
I totally don't understand the word game but I want to play. Email me and explain, please.

I am so glad you are back; maybe now I'll get some comments again! I used to go to Dauphin Island all the time back in the early 90's when we lived in Mobile.
*BELCH* What tower of beer cans? *Looks around the room innocently*
Welcome back! Hope you had an awesome time.
Wal-Mart has an international food section?
I can just imagine what your workplace was like last week. Everything brought up somebody probably said "Oh, Tink will take care of that when she gets back."
Wait! I wasn't through commenting!
Love the photos. Really love the ultra skinny beach condos and the pink sky.
Kell: I'm beginning to think "dispensable" wouldn't be all that bad. ;)
Lefty: The oil rigs weren't so bad. It was the trash that washed ashore because of them. At one point I bend down to inspect what I thought was a jellyfish. Yeah... It was a plastic glove.
Butterfly Girl: Hmm. Nope. That doesn't make me feel better at all! ((HUG))
Cindi: Thanks! "Splash" is my favorite too. I had to wait for what felt like forever for it to hit just right.
Newt: I would love a career in photography! Unfortunately, I have to eat. :)
Edge: Click on over to Odd Mix's page. He's the genius behind the game.
Mamalujo Was it as desolate back then? Because I'm almost hoping this is a recent thing.
Jay: It's a very small section. Don't blink. Every once in awhile Hoop and I grab something random from it. Although half the time I end up pitching it because I can't figure out how to cook it.
Wow! Those houses sort of put things in a different light don't they? I couldn't imagine having a house on stilts. And what's up with those condos???
Wal Mart has an international foods section??
Sumbitch!
Welcome back, Tink! I missed you! I cannot wait to hear about your trip!
Glad you made it home safely! Can't wait to hear your recap :)
Awesome pictures chick, those water ones are awesome.
The "splash" picture left me breathless. Just beautiful.
Best of luck on your week back to work - I know those aren't near as pleasant as the week you just had...and it looks to have been lovely. The pictures are breathtaking, as always. The beachside condos are a very interesting concept.
Umm...about the dog. I...ah...IT WASN'T ME I SWEAR!
Those are some beautiful pictures.
I like splash the best. And the beach condos looked kind of like faces with big noses.
I wondered what Pocky was and then that very day I saw it by the cash register at the Korean grocery I go to - it was next to the Botan rice candy I usually get for me and Luke. I like to try new things, too. What should I do with the 'Pho rice noodles I bought?
It's like they say, you need a vacation from the vacation.
Glad you're back. :)
Ooooo... I love the "backwoods boardwalk"!
WV: "fndhr" That's what the voices in my head kept whispering to me. So I did. And then I married her.
The Beginning.
Honestly, I TRIED to keep these yahoos under control, but it's no easy task. They're ANIMALS! Perhaps this is why they felt no hesitation in gluing the dog to the table and they made some noises about how it was skin-friendly glue and all and that it would come right out with a little club soda and Clorox. I didn't know if the dog would try to drink it or not so I opted NOT to see it it worked or not. As for the beer cans lying around, I cannot take the blame for that. I'm mostly a wine drinker.
Looks like an amazing trip. Welcome back. :)
Welcome back! Great pics!!!
Thanks for posting the Dauphin Island pics. For many years, I used to run away to that little sand bar and escape the world -- that is, until the world recently tapped on the island's shoulder in the form of two hurricanes, and our beachhomes are now no more. It's a neat place and there aren't too many like it left.
The beer cans may or may not have been me and Tammy.
Welcome back! I had two great friends that lived on Dauphin Island and now moved to New Mexico after Katrina. They have less hurricanes there and less nice beach views too.
Welcome back! Awesome pictures!
I toldthem to leave the dog alone but have you ever tried to tell a bunch of drunks anything? Just don't look around the place too close, 'k?
Tink's back!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome photos. I hope your week gets easier.
You just responded to a comment I wrote. Which, of course, leaves me wondering how closely you watch your comments.
8-)
I'm an inquisitive sort you see.
Pleased at your interest in the Friends of Kilroy Carnival. If you want to dive in the deep end we can talk about you hosting. The next carnival is up for grabs.
I have an idea that I think will work well, in that vein. And, as always, I'm open to ideas.
You see, networking does work. hmmmmmm, seems like I've heard that before.
Such beautiful photographs!
Must excellent photos.
