Death To Mondays

Around The Water Cooler:
Boss: You busy today?
Tink: Yup.
Boss: What are you doing after lunch?
Tink: Building a fort.

Weekend Recap:
1. Hoop and I went out and saw
Knocked Up on Friday night.
2. Even with our expectations really high, we thought the movie was hilarious. We gave it four thumbs up. I laughed until my cheeks hurt.
3. In one scene they showed a very graphic image of a baby being born. All the men in the audience, including Hoop, recoiled and shouted "Ugh!"
4. Saturday morning, Hoop had to work. So I slept in and then lazed around on the couch like a good girlfriend. I hadn't even showered by the time he got home.
4. Our original plan was to go to the beach. If I skip the sun for too many days my color goes back to day-glow and I can't wear shorts for fear of blinding people.
5. Unfortunately, the weather had other plans. It stormed all day.
6. At one point Hoop suggested we go anyway and look for shark teeth. The sky responded by opening up and dumping another torrent of water on us.
7. We took that as a sign that we should stay home and watch movies while eating ice cream instead.
8. Clouds KIND OF look like scoops of ice cream. Interpret it how you want.
9. The other movie we watched was Pan's Labrynth. I found the movie both beautiful and violent, a fairy tale NOT meant for children's eyes. Hoop and I enjoyed the movie, although I'm not sure I would watch it more than twice. We gave it three thumbs up and one thumb down.
10. Sunday, I had a Girl's Day with my Mom. We ate well, laughed hard, and spent waaaaay too much money.
11. Although in the end, the $200 ring my Mom got for my Grandma's birthday ended up being worth closer to $1,000. So maybe we didn't spend too much.
12. Fuzzy logic folks. It gets me out of half of life's battles.

Not Far From The Tree:
Tink: This card would be perfect for Hoop's birthday.
Mom: *Reads Aloud* Now that you're turning 30, I should probably start calling you "Ma'm."
Tink: Isn't that great?
Mom: Ma'm?
Tink: *Cracks up*
Mom: You're so strange.

Daily Hoop Conversation:
(At the movie store)
Hoop: Wait... Pan's Labrynth has subtitles?
Tink: Yeah. But you don't even notice them after awhile.
Cashier: The movie is REALLY good. You'll like it.
Hoop: I hate subtitles! Do they have a dubbed version?
Cashier: Not yet. It'll probably be a couple of years.
Tink: Come on, Hoop. Let's just get it.
Hoop: *Loud whisper* But you know I can't read!
Cashier: *Open mouthed stare*
Tink: Oh my God.

How was your weekend?

LOL - how's the fort coming along? Will you take pictures when it is finished?

I went and saw Knocked Up with a girlfriend. We were laughing soooo hard. I told Tom we'd have to see it together, either in the theater, or wait for the cheap theater...

hehhee poor Hoop and not reading subtitles. My BIL only watches TV with closed caption turned on, but he's Romanian and I think can catch up better that way, or something....who knows ;)

Nothing like some Tink conversations to bring a smile to my face!

You guys are too mean to cashiers. I'll have to try that sometime.

Hehe :)

We also spent a rather vast fortune at the weekend too on two apple trees. (Yes, sirree, we are mad)

Tink, I saw Pan's Labrynth thinking it was a kids' fantasy (unlike the first David Bowie/Jennifer Connelly Labrynth which was a boob-man's fantasy), and I am still realing. I bawled during it, after it, and, on occasion, at odd moments during the day when I think of it. It made me think of the lives of children living in horrific situations and the fantasies they create to escape. How even at times the coping mechanism is scary and scarring.

It was so well done, I could never watch it again.

Sounds like you had a fun weekend despite the weather.

How's the fort coming along?

Are there so many sharks off the coast of St Augustine that their teeth are always washing up on shore? I think I must do a dive trip there sometime.

Did you know you have two #4's? I just thought I'd mention that cause I'm all observant like and helpful like that.

I'd like to build a fort. That would be fun. But, if I do it inside nobody would ever see it. If I do it outside I'd get arrested. If the cops can penetrate it, that is.

My brother was extolling the virtues of his half eaten shrimp chimichanga yesterday and some chick sitting next to him said "Can I have a bite?". The three in my party sat open mouthed looking at her until she busted out a laugh and said "JUST KIDDING". That was pretty funny.

Allyson and I saw Knocked Up on Saturday night. It was really, really, really funny!!!

A fort! Do you need the cushions from my couch?

Pan's Labrynth nearly tore my heart out.

*Loud whisper* But you know I can't read!

He shoots! He scores! *snort!*

While you're out picking up funky movies, check out Arthur And The Invisibles. Takes a little while to get going, but there are some truly priceless moments, like the disco scene where Madonna's animated alter ego pulls a Travolta, a la Pulp Fiction.

The conversation about the card made me laugh the most. I really need to get that for Ritch's birthday.

I want to see Knocked Up, chances are it will be a year or two.

I want your life, work and have fun. Act like five year old's. Does that sum it up?

I love your weekend updates! I hear "Knocked Up" is very funny. It is getting great reviews.

I'm right there with you regarding tanning. I don't intend to look like an old suede purse years from now, but I've got to activate the pigment in my skin OR ELSE! I did splurge and do a mystic spray-on tan so that I can venture out in shorts IN ORDER to get the real thing without suffering too much shame. Best idea I've had in years.

I'd like to see Knocked Up. I thought it looked funny in the previews.

I haven't built a fort in ages! Can I come play?

I showed my mom my blog yesterday and then she wanted to know which blogs I read everyday. I took her here.

We had a good giggle about you building a fort.

I love it here.

As you were.

Thanks for the Link Tink. I bet you get that a lot. ;)

Fort building at work. I just can't think of anything that sounds more delightful. But make sure someone brings in cookies and milk. That would really top that off. Oh, and they should make sure to make the cookies inordinately large so you have to hold them with two hands. yeah.

It stormed here on and off on Saturday too, but the good news is now the love bugs are mostly gone. Good lord it was like a plague from the Bible!

Thanks for the Knocked Up review. We want to see it, you know, assuming we'll ever get to the movies again ;o)

I love to build forts! With blankets, and kitchen chairs and tables!

Send me some shark teeth...and a tan. I stay in day-glow mode 365 baby. Thank God for fake tanning.

Without self-tanner, I scare small children. Well worth the time and energy to put it on.

First, a great big thank you for the shout out on the mastheading directives. Looks like I've got to get me some software and then actually learn how to use it!

Secondly, I went to "Knocked Up" ***(at the choosing of my parents) along with my husband. My parents and we loved, loved, loved that movie! Which was a bit trepidatious considering my father picked "40-Year-Old-Virgin" to watch and I felt as if I had just watched porn with my parents. . . .

***I did have to ask the husband if that is what it looks like when the baby is crowning. He said yes with a chuckle and I then had to ask him again to be sure, which made him laugh harder. Yeowch.

Great post!
